I’ve been looking for ways to earn extra money to pay off our student loan debt. Side hustles are a great way to help you earn money and reach your financial goals.
What’s a side hustle? It is anything you do outside of your normal day job to earn money. Sometimes that means starting some type of business and other times its just ways to add a little extra money to your monthly cash flow.
Surveys
Take surveys. This might not be the most profitable way to earn money but every bit helps. If you’re just sitting around anyway, why not earn extra income taking surveys? Here are some Survey companies that I recommend:
Sell Stuff Around The House
Do you have stuff around the house that you could sell for extra income? Selling things that you no longer use or need is a great way to earn extra income. Plus it helps to declutter your home! Take an inventory of what you have and see if there is anything that you could sell!

There are some scammy companies so you have to be careful when looking online for mystery shopping companies. One company that I recommend is Bestmark.
Babysit
Babysitting isn’t just for teenagers! Offer to babysit for date nights or weekends and earn some extra income. You could sign up for Care.com to get your name out there.
Clean Houses
Clean houses on the weekends or evenings. You could advertise to friends and family or put an ad on craigslist. You can also list your services in your local Facebook groups.
Part-Time Job
A part-time job can help you bring in some extra cash. You can usually find seasonal jobs that can earn you some extra cash. Target would be a great place to look for a seasonal job.
Start A Blog
Although a blog isn’t instant cash it can become a profitable side hustle for the long term. Starting a blog can help you reach your financial goals and provide a steady income source.

Become a UBER or Lyft Driver
Have you ever thought about becoming a UBER or Lyft Driver? Earn money by giving people rides. The nice thing about this is that you can do it on your schedule. So if you have extra time, you can earn money.
Run Facebook Ads For Local Businesses
Did you know that you can earn money by running ads on Facebook? Although this side hustle requires a little upfront investment, it is well worth it if you’re looking to start a business on the side.
Bobby Hoyt (one of the men behind Laptop Empires) paid off $40,000 in student loans in a year and a half and part of his strategy were Facebook ads.
The guys from Laptop Empires show you exactly how to do this in their course. I took their FB ads for Bloggers course and it is very detailed and they show you exactly how to start running ads on Facebook.
Sell Items On eBay
Make Money selling on eBay. Do you have items from around your house that you could sell? You can also get second-hand items to sell at to garage sales, consignment shops, thrift stores, auctions and estate sales.

Rent Out Your Home On Airbnb
Have you heard of Airbnb? You can rent out a room or your home for extra cash. I know someone who was gone for the summer and rented out her home while they were gone. She made good cash doing this!
Car Flipping
Can you fix cars and have good negotiating skills? Then flipping cars might be a good side hustle for you. You can look in your local facebook groups or craigslist for used cars. My husband likes to look for cars on Copart and fix them up and sell them.
A word of caution, you do need to know the laws around this. In our state, you can only buy/sell 5 cars a year before you have to get a special license.
Walk Dogs
Post flyers in your neighborhood or on your local Facebook groups and start earning money walking people’s dogs. Have you ever heard of Rover? It’s sort of like Care.com where you can sign up to become a dog walker, sitter, etc.
Food Delivery Services
Earn money by bringing people food. You can choose your own schedule. Uber Eats and Door Dash are two companies that you can sign up to be a delivery driver.
Sell On Amazon
Did you know that you can sell on Amazon? Start an Amazon FBA (fulfillment by Amazon) business. You find items that are profitable to sell, list the price that you want to sell the item at, then ship it to the Amazon warehouse. Amazon ships it to the customer when they order.

Are you good at math? Or have a background in accounting and or financing? Bookkeepers can earn $60 an hour or more. You could become a virtual bookkeeper.
Ways To Save Money
Finding ways to save money can increase your monthly cash flow. Here are a few tips to help you save money.
Rakuten
Have you heard of Rakuten? Rakuten (formally known as Ebates) is a money-saving website that allows you to earn cashback on products you’re already buying. All you do is go to their website and click on the store that you are going to be buying from and shop as you would normally shop. Rakuten receives a commission for referring you and then you get cashback from that. Pretty awesome huh?
Cut Your Cable
Cutting your cable can save you hundreds of dollars. Save money and go with Netflix or Hulu instead.
Switch Cell Phone Providers
Do you pay too much on your cell phone? One thing I always recommend to family and friends is to switch to Republic Wireless. We’ve been using Republic Wireless for years and it has literally saved us thousands of dollars. You can get a plan for as little as 15 dollars a month.
Meal Plan
Grocery budgets are usually the best way to cut spending and save money. Meal planning makes it easier to cut expenses and stay on track with your grocery budget.
Getting a meal planning system in place has not only saved me money but it’s also saved me lots of time and frustration.

Creating a budget that you’ll actually use can help you save so much money. It’s also one of the best ways to help you come up with a plan to pay off your debt.

Have A No Spend Month
Do a no spend month and see how much money you can save. With a no spend month you cut out all unnecessary spending. So nothing extra like eating out, electronics, entertainment, etc. It’s a great way to save money and to get creative with your time and resources.
Bring Your Own Lunch To Work
Bringing your own lunch to work can save you so much money. Eating out gets costly and can really break the budget. We like to double our dinner so that we have leftovers for lunch. Then there is really no excuse to not bring your own lunch.
Shop At Consignment Shops
I like to shop for clothes at consignment shops. You can find lots of good deals for gently used items. I recently went to our local consignment shop and got three pairs of jeans, one top and two cardigans for $65! Pretty good deal!
